Wait? What? Hold on I’m barely making enough to buy a pizza at the end of the month. Yet Amazon is full of books on how to promote your book to make money.

The one thing that they all say, is that it takes time. You cannot expect it over night. Over a million books a year is put out on Amazon.

The biggest clue I have taken away from all this reading is to publish good books, that are well edited, and publish frequently.

Back in the 15th century, when the printing press was invented, authors who wanted to make a living writing books and were not Geoffrey Chaucer, needed to write three books a year. If those old authors from the 15th century forward to the 21st century can do three books a year, then those of us with computers should be able to do so as well.

With KDP select, CreateSpace, Ingram Spark available we should be doing this as well. We need to make sure our books are well edited. Finding a free lance editor that is good and affordable is tricky. There are so many of them. Finding a good writing group is also tricky, most of them are supportive, but don’t really dig into the meat of your story and what is wrong.

So how to make that sum of money. The basic strategy I have heard is write, publish, repeat. Just keep putting good content out there. If you have 20 books and each of them are making 20 bucks a month you have 400 dollars. Keep it going by starting a newsletter, a blog, a forum and give to the community let people see you. Find a platform and you to can live with great results.
